I just watched the stunning Zhang Yimou film “The Flowers of War”- the 1930’s were a fascinating time for fashion in cosmopolitan China as the presence of foreigners influenced hair, makeup, and clothing styles. Here the actress Ni Ni portrays a prostitute from Nanjing, with high arched penciled-in brows and a classic red lip

I worked on my first shoot in Shanghai this weekend, we shot at the luxurious Shangrila hotel , and some historical sites like this Taoist temple, next to the ancient city walls that were built in the 1500s.
